Photography Workshops in Dublin: Street & Smartphone Courses with Brendan Ó Sé

What could be better than spending a day with like-minded people, camera or phone in hand, learning how to see the world more creatively and coming home with photographs you’re genuinely proud of?
I’ve been leading these workshops in partnership with Photo Museum Ireland, the national centre for contemporary photography in Temple Bar for over a decade now and each workshop still excites me in seeing the work participants produce.
Below are my upcoming workshops. Places go quickly and groups are deliberately small, so if a date suits you, book early — each title links straight to the booking page.

What people say about Brendan’s workshops

“What great value! This course delivered as advertised and then some. Brendan provided a firehose of useful information… well beyond the technical aspects, he gave us tools to see creatively. I have already made photos I’m proud of.” — Jim Restall
“Challenging, insightful and motivating.” — Ana Leddy
“It opened up a whole new world of colour, movement and quirky ideas for me. A must for anyone who underutilises their phone camera.” — Linda Curtin
Why learn with Brendan?
I come from a teaching background with over 3 decades of experience that I combine that with a working photographer’s eye. My work has been recognised by Apple, exhibited internationally, and I’ve run workshops for Google, Facebook, the HSE and Bord Gáis as well as for complete beginners. Every workshop is relaxed, hands-on and built around you making better pictures on the day; not just watching me make them.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need an expensive camera?
No. For the smartphone workshops your phone is all you need. It can be an iPhone or any Android phone. For the street photography workshops, any camera works, including your phone.
I’m a complete beginner. Is that okay?
Absolutely. Most participants are. The workshops are paced so nobody gets left behind, and you get individual feedback throughout.
Where are the in-person workshops held?
At Photo Museum Ireland, Meeting House Square, Temple Bar, Dublin 2 (D02 X406). Ideal, as there is plenty of photogenic streets right outside the door.
