If photography is the universal language, then there can be no doubt that the smartphone is the universal camera. Ya, that multi–purpose device you carry around with you has so many functions, but none as rewarding and satisfying as the ability to capture and document moments forever in photographs.

In that spirit last Saturday the Mobiography Awards Competition for 2024 (sponsored by Reeflex) was launched and to celebrate a global smartphone photowalk was organised. Throughout the day, photography enthusiasts from Iceland to Indonesia; Oslo to Australia, Ireland to Korea, the UK to the US, India to Nigeria to Canada and so many locations in between, gathered to document and share their world around them.

In this truly global event it was so exciting to see images come in from all over the world and to see how photography and smartphone photography in particular can bring people together.

Throughout the day, Mobiography shared images as people began to post them on their Instagram feeds. The feedback from everyone was wonderful and the word seems to be that this is an event people want more of.
